Tempranillo himself is a modern type
longer lined stallion with a great top-line and excellent conformation. He
shows wonderful expression in his gaits and has an especially quick,
powerful hind leg with a lot of animation up front. His
canter is balanced with nice rhythm. His jump shows good technique and scope
and he gets more powerful all of the time.
This stallion is the complete package of super movement, great
jumping ability and excellent conformation.
Tempranillo moved his focus
over to the jumper ring in 2009 with great success. He first went
out to Northlands where after not doing a single jumper show in 3 years
he walked into the 1.2m ring and not only jumped around but did it with
confidence and gorgeous technique. He then went to Spruce Meadows
Canada One and North American competing in the 1.2m against some of the
top horses in N.A. and again stepped up to the plate and delivered with
quality rounds that resembled Regular Working hunter rounds. He is
super easy to prepare and walks into the ring with all of the poise and
confidence of an old pro. He will now continue to focus on the
jumper ring after previously being campaigned at third level in 2008 and
before that he competed in the FEI 5 year olds and
received one of the top scores in Canada - an incredible 82% !! and that was at his first recognized dressage show in 2005.
He finished that year off very successfully with the champion first level
and reserve champion FEI 5 year old at the Provincials.
Tempranillo's first
foals are just three years old in 2009 and are proving to be just like
their father, very self assured and loving of attention. He
adds length of leg and over all scope to his offspring with more
suspension in the gaits and incredible jumping ability. His
first few offspring are now under saddle and have been very easy to
start with very good trainability and work ethics.
Tempranillo's sire is
the 17.1 hh Calvados who jumped at the international level and has many
international offspring jumping at Grand Prix level, e.g. Macanudo's Deniro (Peter Wylde), Royal Future (Allison
Firestone), Illussion (Tani Anderson), Silber Bird (Markus Beerbaum)
and the list goes on. Calvados is one of the few
stallions who has earned his "keur" predicate. He has
this to thank from his above mentioned, world famous children,
who won grand prix and world cups. The jumping
index of Calvados is extremely high with 152 points.
Tempranillo's dam Ilobria has been awarded both her Keur and Pref
from the KWPN for her own sport performance and her
offspring. She jumped to 1.30 and up to Z level dressage as
well as producing some exceptional offspring. This mare line
comes from generations of Keur, Pref mares. Ilobria's sire
Damiro is becoming very well known as a broodmare sire and many
stallions who make it through the 70 day test have him in their
mother line.
